People First recognises that our work may have a direct or indirect effect on the local, regional and global environment. We are committed to reducing any harmful effects our business has on the environment and promoting a more environmentally friendly approach to business to our employees, clients and the local community.
We try to minimise any waste of resources, by:
Minimising the use of paper systems in our office – we endeavour to limit the amount of information in print form within the office, encouraging our staff to ensure important information is stored electronically. We also ask clients if we can send corporate information, rate information, etc. via electronic means.
Recycling – we have a recycling scheme within the office, to encourage staff to recycle paper and plastic waste, including confidential information via our secure storage bin. We also make scrap note pads for our staff from paper containing non-confidential information.
Employees are encouraged to use glasses and cups to minimise the need for plastic glasses within the office.
Whilst the cost of goods and services plays a critical part in our purchasing choices, we have made a conscious effort to find suppliers within our community. We hope this helps to reduce our carbon footprint and to support local businesses.
As an organisation, we aim to buy goods that will serve us for a long time; our ethos is to repair, not replace, wherever we can!
One of the largest impacts on the environment by People First is our use of energy sources. We aim to reduce these by:
Employees at People First spend a lot of time out of the office, visiting clients. We offer the use of an Oyster Card to all staff, to encourage the use of public transport, rather than taxis or private vehicles.
